Unsafe Sexual Practices and Alcohol Use in Young Female Adults Some of the social activities and behaviors that the youth or adolescents engage in tend to compromise their health. Alcohol is part of most social activities for young people including women. It is a depressant that impairs judgment and enables young women to engage in activities that would not engage in without the intoxicating effects of alcohol. Young female adults engage in risky sexual behaviors when their judgment is mildly impaired from alcohol consumption. According to Parks et al. (2008), the combination of the sexual expectations of young women in a bar and alcohol increases the probability that women will have a sexual encounter with a person they just met.
