Christian Dior (1905-1957)
Working in the fashion industry between 1935 and 1957, Christian Dior made a name for himself when he launched his own fashion design house starting in 1946 (Fashion

). In 1947 Dior launched his first collection of designs, dubbed the “New Look,” which would become one of Dior’s most well-known and historically significant design styles. The New Look featured a silhouette that emphasized a feminine hourglass figure, with a small, cinched waist, rounded shoulders, and a very full skirt (Fashion
