Slave trade has existed throughout history, but the horrors of these events most people do not want to remember even if they have been told about these events. Samuel Atkinson (1821) stated, “Often have we been told of the suffering and of the endurance of the captive black – merely because the color of his skin differs from ours – torn from his native home, family, and friends...” (p. 50). The study of slave trade in the United States, during the years of 1700s, is important because it tells why the southern colonies believed slavery was important while it was a struggle for the northern colonies who struggled with the concept of slavery, it is important to study the truth about the conditions...
