The Introduction of a Carbon Tax in British Columbia: History, Context, Politics and what we can learn from it The following paper looks at the introduction of a carbon tax in British Columbia, Canada. The paper will explore many items – and in the following order: how the tax came to be; what the tax entails; the political and economic context for its emergence/evolution; which individuals and groups supported it and which individuals and groups opposed it; how the tax is working and from whose perspective is the tax working and from whose perspective is the tax not working; and what can the rest of Canada learn from the BC carbon tax.
