Canadian healthcare system provides universal healthcare to all the citizens of the country and is funded with federal and provincial support. The Canada Health Act passed in 1984 establishes accessibility, portability, universality, public administration and comprehensiveness as the criteria for the Canadian healthcare system (Health Canada, 2011). The purpose of this paper is to discuss the healthcare system of a developed country and discuss the major financers, major regulatory agencies and the system for providing healthcare. Included in this paper is a discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of the Canadian healthcare system.
