The Car and the Environment: Cars and Pollution in the twenty-first century
This book looks at cars and the role they play in pollution in our time. This paper will look at the matter of cars causing pollution and whether or not our understanding of the issue has evolved over the last several decades. In particular, the paper will look at how automobile pollution was viewed in the 1960s and how the matter is viewed now as we get ready to embark upon the second decade of the twenty-first century. The 1960s were, as a note to the reader, because this was the decade when the nascent environmental movement had its appearance and when scholars (at least in the United States) began to speak out against what they deemed a significant problem that...
