The Louisiana Constitution is an enormous document in comparison to other state constitutions. For example, Louisiana’s constitution is over 100 pages while Montana’s is less than half the size. However, the detail included in Louisiana’s Constitution is revealing of the complex nature of its people, culture, and government. Louisiana’s history is influenced by its international citizenry, and therefore Louisiana government reflects this. A comparison between the Louisiana Constitution and that of a very different state, Montana, reveals the unique and special nature of Louisiana.
