.....s did not work out during the interview process despite my best efforts.
The actions I took in terms of preparation were manifold: I talked to people at the firm; I studied up on the industry; I bought a new suit; and I corresponded regularly with staff at the firm. The one result I achieved was that I gained an initial interview; the result I did not achieve was that, despite my best efforts, I did not get the job or even a second interview. If I learned one thing about this disappointment, it was that being “over-eager,” and overly assertive is not a good thing when going for an interview.
