Suicide is a preventable public health issue. There are specific risk factors associated with suicide and teens particularly. Depression is the leading cause of suicide amongst teens. Substance abuse in combination with other mental health conditions also put teens at a higher risk of suicide (“Suicide in the U.S.: Statistics and Prevention”, 2009).
