While the U.S. is the wealthiest nation in the world, appropriate policies have never been crafted in such a way that the tragic reality of homelessness has ever come close to being alleviated. Adding to the numbers of those who are homeless are military veterans. Despite having sacrificed their time in service of the nation, there are many veterans who are without shelter and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) is not able to provide adequate solutions. The National Coalition for Homeless Veterans (2009) has stated that despite the fact that “accurate numbers are impossible to come by -- no one keeps national records on homeless veterans -- the VA estimates that 154,000 veterans...

.....anagement of this policy will be conducted by the Department of Defense (DOD), the Veterans Administration (VA), Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Department of Education, and the Department of Health and Human Services. The main level of control will be managed by the VA with both presidential and congressional oversight, including a presidential appointee whose main responsibility it is to make sure that the policy is implemented to its complete extent.
