Childhood obesity is a major problem in the healthcare system today. The prevalence of obesity in children in the United States has increased significantly within the past couple of decades. Recent research findings demonstrate an increase in the prevalence of obesity in children (Ogden and Carroll 5). Many factors have lead to the development of the current public health crisis caused by childhood obesity. According to the Centers for Disease Control the diet and inactivity of children contribute to the development of obesity in children (24, 25).
