My Educational Philosophy
Any educator will tell you there is a link between risk factors on the four domains of individual/peer, family, school and community and developmental assets. There are programs geared toward the protective factors that can reduce the risk of behavior in children. The protective factors have the same four domains as the risk factors (“Risk and Protective Factors and Developmental Assets”, 1997).
Within the four domains of individual/peer, family, school and community the protective factors are:
Individual/peer: Productive social orientation and Productive temperament;
Family: Development of bonds between family members and a clear positive guide for behavior;
School: Project and community involvement, a rewards...
The end:
..... community environment is developed before the child reaches school in the current educational system. I feel that educators need to assume a new role that is one of community outreach. The educator and school needs to find a way to reach children in the home and the community before they are of school age so that prevention factors can be put in place before a disruptive behavior takes hold in the child.
