In certain industries, the need for security remains important not only for the safety and protection of a firm’s assets and employees, but also for the well being of the general public. Facilities that use highly combustible chemicals as inputs for the manufacture of the company’s products need heightened levels of security. Should the perimeter be compromised and some of the inventory stolen, it can place the general public at significant safety risk.
