Gender equality and same-sex couples This paper will argue that homosexuality and specifically Same-sex xouples can have positive effects on the current family status as well as on the equality of men and women in the society. The familiarity of the public with the challenges that lesbian couples face and the practical solutions that they find for these issues can provide guidelines for all families and lead them to an alternative for the unequal status of women in the society. The paper will argue that homosexual couples usually avoid the traditional view of the family where gender roles are clearly defined and where women are usually at a disadvantage in terms of power and status within the family.
