"Food Rules" on Healthy Eating Everyone wants to be healthy and fit. Still, it is increasingly hard to do this in a word inundated with McDonalds, processed food and the advertising that makes these foods seem completely appealing. Pollan studied what makes Americans so obsessed with food and through this, wrote Food Rules. Michael Pollan’s book, Food Rules serves as a guide for modern eaters who wants to avoid the pratfalls of the western diet. It is compact and much like a handbook, outlining simply and briefly rules that an eater should follow in three sections: eat food, not too much, and mostly plants. The three rules that I chose point the reader to eat practically and simply, without all the bells and whistles (additives, dieting...The end:
..... Rules does talk a lot about rules that people can use to live a far healthier lifestyle. Some rules are simpler than others, which may seem hard. Pollan gives people a lot of wiggle room with these rules, saying that they can follow different types of world diets (Greek or French, to name two examples) in order to eat better. These ways of eating, however, must be practical. In three of the rules, “don’t eat anything your great grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food,” “If you have the space, buy a freezer” and “plant a vegetable garden if you have the space, a window box if you don’t” outline the practicality of eating healthily and being conscious of such.
