Employee Recognition Programs Employee recognition programs—both formal and informal—help to motivate employees to do a better job as well as assist in retaining employees for the long term. Informal recognition programs—as little as ensuring the employees are greeted in the morning—can help to maintain a positive day-to-day atmosphere in the workplace while formal recognition programs help to recognize performance that does beyond the normal call of duty that is recognized by the organization as well as one’s peers.
