Elder abuse refers to behaviors, events and circumstances that threaten the life of an older adult. About 7% of seniors in Canada have experienced financial or emotional abuse from their caregiver, spouse or their adult child (Alberta Elder Abuse Awareness, 2007). Elder abuse can be categorized into psychological, physical, sexual, financial, neglect and discriminatory abuse (Cooper, Selwood and Livingstone (2008). The purpose of this paper is to describe a proposal for elder abuse and to discuss a field report of an interview with an older adult to explore health and the different aspects of aging.
