Contributions of Life Cycle Costing and Performance Specification to the Design of a Sports Centre Introduction This paper will assess the potential contribution of life cycle costing and performance specification to the design of a sport centre. The conclusion is the life cycle costing is highly appropriate for a complex, multi-cost, and long-lasting building such as a sport centre whereas performance specifications for such a building should encompass not only the generic performance of the infrastructural materials but also sport-specific performance and safety standards.
