Client Centered Care Client centered care is patient care where the direct focus of care is the patient and he or she is involved in all the decision-making processes associated with patient care. In this approach to care the healthcare that the team provides is directed by the patient (Registered Nurses Association of Ontario, 2006). Communication is important in client centered-care because it can be used to engage the patient in a dialogue that involves the patient in the decision making process. During the semester I had the opportunity to engage in several dialogues with patients and included them in the healthcare decision-making process using the client-centered approach.
