Modern prosperity has brought children in the developed world an unprecedented standard of living and health care. Child mortality, once commonplace, has become a rarity. However, prosperity has exposed children to some of the same lifestyle dangers that modern adults face. Prominent among these are the disorders associated with obesity, which have become more and more prominent. (1)
