This paper will examine the military reasons why Rome rose to become a world power in the ancient world. In the early days, Rome was at constant war with the Etruscans, resulting in the building of the Roman legions and the creation of a massive military force. After the Romans conquered the Etruscans, they began increasing their military legions that would soon expand into Macedonia and then into Asia Minor. The sustenance and continual growth of military power was a primary reason why Rome expanded and was then able to keep these provinces from those they conquered.
