In order to analyze incest first it must be known exactly what incest is. Incest involves sexual intercourse between two closely related relatives. Age does not play a part in determining if a sexual relationship between two close relatives is incestuous or not. Consent also does not matter. Incest is illegal and a taboo in most societies. This distinction of most societies is important because the breach of legal and/or cultural law broken with incestuous behavior varies from culture to culture (Turner, 2008, p. 38-44).
