A medical malpractice occurs as a result of negligence on the part of a physician or nurse who did not meet the standard of care in administering to a patient which eventually causes harm or damage to a patient. A doctor or nurse is considered to have deviated from the standard of care if negligence is determined in a malpractice suit. Organizations have to identify the level of risk that they are exposed to in order to mitigate risk and avoid potential malpractices.
