WHAT IS TEACHINGIn my opinion everyone is in fact a teacher in his or her own right. A teacher is anyone that teaches another an important lesson, a person that shapes another's life. A teacher is someone who helps a person to get on the right path, who is there to lead them in making the best decisions for themselves. Teaching goes one step further when choosing this as a career. It means devoting your life to helping others. It means taking the knowledge you have acquired over the years and incorporating it into the classroom. Teaching is consistent and continuous. It means having the patience and the know how to continue working with students when they feel like giving up. A teacher must help students to look inside and find their strengths, weaknesses, passions, dislikes, and their uniqueness. A good teacher instructs on subjects while allowing students to develop personal opinions, and to think creatively. It is also very important that a teacher is able to make learning interesting to the students, and to make their education useful to them. Good teaching means being open with yourself and the students, so they can in turn be open with themselves and you, the teacher. Teaching should not be looked at as a job; it should be look at as an opportunity to participate in helping shape the lives of so many, to expand students' horizons, and to help students grow and mature through the attainment of knowledge. |
