THE BUTTERFLY REVOLUTIONAfter reading the book, "The Butterfly Revolution," I have concluded that the story was great. I give the book two thumbs up. I give the book two thumbs up because it is a smooth and easy reading. The book also has a good flow of events, the book is written in a first-hand account form, the books reading level is that of its suspected readers, (young adults), and has great, descriptive writing. The books good flow of events allows the reader too easily understand the books. The events go from one to the next with out any confusing gibberish between them. The book's events are marked by dated sections, making for easy reference for a person writing a report on the book. Also, the flow of events allow for easy reading, since the reader doesn't have to double back three or four times to understand what he has just read. The second reason that the book receives two thumbs up is the fact that it is written in first hand form. The book is written in the form of a journal. This means that the book has opinions instead of just fact after fact. This form allows the book to be more understandable since the opinions give clarification to certain events or facts, from the book. An example of this is when the main character, Winston Weyn, gives his opinions on the Supreme Revolutionary Committee. His thoughts on the committee clarify what the committee is really about, (power and control). The next reason the book gets two thumbs up is the fact that the reading level is good for the young adult age group. The author uses words that the young adult age group understands. This allows for good, flowing reading. The phrases the author uses are commonly used among the young adult age group. The overall writing keeps the young adult age group interested. The final reason the book gets two thumbs up is the crisp, descriptive writing of the book. The author gave every character names, and adequately describes them, leaving a picture in the readers mind. An example of the descriptive writing is given through a passage from the book. The passage is an argument between the members of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee. " Paul shook his head. " Your talking about robbery." Frank shot Paul a nasty look. " Robbery, Hell," said Jerome Blackridge. " That money belongs to all of us. Why should we starve because an old lady like that thinks she's still running things up here?" " Shut up Jerry." said Frank. " I still say it's wrong." said Paul, and I was agreeing with him. " Okay!" Frank hissed at us. " It's robbery! But I'm in charge. Does anybody doubt that?" The author gives action, emotion, and description to the characters to make the book more understandable and enjoyable. The book, " The Butterfly Revolution," gets two thumbs up because it is a smooth easy reading. The book also has a good flow of events, the book is written in a first-hand account form, the books reading level is that of its suspected readers, (young adults), and has great, descriptive writing.
